Boys and Girls 18s National Teams Chosen

The Boys and Girls 18 National Teams have been announced and 14 juniors from the Missouri Valley will compete this summer. The Boys 18 National tournament will take place in Urbana, Illinois on July 30 - August 2, 2011 and the team will be coached by John Roddick. The Girls 18 National tournament will take place in Claremont, California on August 1-4, 2011 and the team will be coached by Ann Menees. Read More

2011 USTA Missouri Valley College Showcase


Join us for the USTA Missouri Valley College Showcase in conjunction with Sweet 16 at the Grand Street Cafe. You will learn the in and outs of the recruiting process from a panel of college coaches as well as learn about the college experience from a former Missouri Valley junior player. The cost is on $15 for player (sophomores, juniors and seniors) and parents and includes breakfast and materials. Flores, Westby Capture May Open Titles

The May 2011 National Opens are in full force across the country took place last weekend, and the section was well represented, this past weekend with two Missouri Valley players walking away with championships and one player another taking away the overall receiving a tournament sportsmanship award. Papa Chosen for U.S. Junior Davis Cup

The USTA announced today the top American juniors who will represent the United States in the qualifying events for the Junior Davis Cup (16-and-under) and Junior Fed Cup (16-and-under) by BNP Paribas and the World Junior Tennis Competition (14-and-under). Each event features a four-team round robin competition April 29 – May 1 in Merida, Mexico. Other nations participating include: Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Sneed, Daniel Lead Juniors at Easter Bowl

Olivia Sneed (Prairie Village, Kansas) came away with two pieces of hardware at the 2011 Easter Bowl, highlighting a group of Missouri Valley juniors competing at last week's spring national championships. The event took place in several cities throughout the U.S. and featured many of the top junior players in the nation. Read More
 

Three Missouri Valley Programs Named USTA Regional Training Centers

USTA Player Development announced today that three junior development programs – the Kansas City United Tennis Academy at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Mo., the Overland Park Racquet Club in Overland Park, Kan., and the Tucker Tennis Academy at the Grand Health & Racquet Club in Tulsa, Okla. – have been named USTA Certified Regional Training Centers as part of its continuing effort to develop the next generation of American players. The Serve - Zeke Clark


12-year-old Zeke Clark has had a busy year. He recently started playing national level events and participated in the Nike Jr. Tour this fall in Florida. He is currently ranked No. 2 in the Missouri Valley and No. 15 nationally. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native has had a good first year on the national circuit, reaching the round of 16 at the boys 12 clay court nationals. Read More

USTA announces new rule change for 10-and-under Tennis

The USTA announced today that it has passed new rules governing competition for 10-and-under tennis tournaments. The new rules require that 10-and-under tournaments be played using slower-moving and lower-bouncing balls, on smaller courts and utilizing shorter, lighter racquets. The rule change follows the International Tennis Federation’s recent rule change and will take effect on January 1, 2012. It will apply to all USTA-sanctioned events for children 10-and-under.
